Once again we hosted the annual Cambridge Rural Schools Cross Country Championships at the beautiful Lake Karapiro Domain. Approximately 400 students from ten schools competed in the various age races with some very close finishes. This year the course was altered because of construction for the 201o Rowing World Championships to be help on the lake. We would like to congratulate Jake Mechell, this year’s ten year old boys champion. We would like to thank all of the marshalls who helped to run the day as well as the fantastic parents who kept the food stall producing all of that yummy food!

Last Friday our junior students competed against students from Whitehall School in our annual cross country championships races. Thank you to Ken and Nicola for allowing us to use their farm to provide a picturesque and challenging course and well done to our students who all ran so well!

Power to the pupils!

Karapiro students celebrate in front of their new sign.

After a long campaign that has involved surveying motorists and writing to the Minister of Transport and the Secretary for Education we now have a brand new sign on our school bus.

The sign reminds drivers to slow down to 20kmph when approaching a stationary school bus from EITHER direction.

It is terrific to see action taken by our students having a direct result on their safety.

Nice of you to lettuce visit!

Last week we all enjoyed our visit to Mr Kerr’s hydroponic gardens. We learnt how this amazing process allows us to grow all sorts of yummy things and that hydoponics goes way back to the hanging gardens of Babylon built in 600 BC!

We were also amazed by Mr Kerr’s electricity generating waterwheel and beautiful waterfall.
