Happy Holidays!

Blake, Abbey and Quinn share their learning successes.

We would like to wish all of our students and their families a safe and enjoyable break.

On Thursday 1 April, each student will bring home their learning journal and written report. Each of these documents is designed to give students, parents and teachers a detailed picture of where the child is at in his or her learning. The learning journal features goals, samples of learning activities and nationally referenced assessments. There will be an opportunity in week two of term two to meet with teachers to review progress and plan the next learning steps. Please take the time to read the learning journal with your child and celebrate successes and plan future goals.

Please complete the parent review page and return the learning journal at the start of the new term.

Stop bugging me!

Someone get the mossie spray quick!!

Room 1 students have finished their ‘minibeasts’ study by making models of the insect that they have each been researching. The giant bugs are very detailed and feature some creative construction. Pop in and see the bugs, they will be on display in room 1.

Horsing Around!

Racing this time in the Schoolyard Stakes!

We enjoyed a special treat when Emma brought her horse Muffin to give all of our students lunchtime rides around our school field. For a little horse Muffin had a lot of energy and did a great job. Thanks to Emma and Jan for organising the rides!

Give it a try!

A 'Treemendous' Triathlon

The strain starts to show!

We had a very strong team at the Te Miro triathlon with all students competing very well on the long and demanding course. Students gave their all to complete the swim, bike and run. Special congratulations go to Georgina and Cam who each won their races and to all of the other finishers.

Leadership

Here at Karapiro School we take the responsibility of developing future leaders very seriously. Our school leaders programme is now into its fifth year and our learning agents are taking a leadership role in curriculum planning and implementation. We were delighted that our students took part in a recent leadership development day with Team Energize and leaders from other Cambridge Schools. Our year six students had a great day, learning about what makes a great leader and the importance of strong teamwork. The students then had the opportunity to put theory into practice by planning, participating in and reflecting upon a range of challenging mental and physical activities that required excellent leadership and teamwork to ensure success. The senior students will be using these refined skills as they take increasing responsibilty at our school throughou.
