Jubilee Haka
Rugby players from Karapiro and Whitehall schools performed this haka to begin the official opening ceremony of the combined schools 125th jubilee.
Thank you for a GREAT jubilee
Thank you to everyone who helped to make our 125th combined schools’ jubilee such a memorable event. There were so many highlights, we had over 400 attendees for the official opening on Saturday where we enjoyed songs from the current students, the cutting of the giant jubilee cake and speeches by our mayor, Alan Livingston and local MPs Lindsay Tisch and Louise Upston. Saturday night was a lot of fun with a very entertaining speech by world champion and olympic gold medalist Rob Waddell before we danced the night away with Tim Santner and his band. Today we shared in a lovely commemorative service, lead by ex principal Gordon Jellyman and accompanied by pianist Judy McColl. Thank you to everyone who attended – see you all again in 2035!
It’s Jubilee Time (nearly)!
There is STILL time to register for our combined 125th jubilee and join over 300 other current and ex students, staff and residents at what promises to be the best party in the last 25 years! Our mayor, Alan Livingston and our two local MPs, Lousie Upston and Lindsay Tisch will be special guests and world, and olympic, champion rower Rob Waddell will be our guest speaker. Our students will be singing, local musician Judy McColl will entertain on the piano and on Saturday night, Tim Santner and friends will rock the giant marquee. Don’t miss out – it is a 25 year wait until the next one!!

Skiing in a blizzard!
Our year six students had a bit of a tough time with the weather on this year’s ski trip. Strong winds and sleet made for tricky skiing and snowboarding sessions. Everyone made the best of what the mountain had to offer, before retreating to the hot pools at Tokaanu. The rest of the trip was safe from the elements as the year six students enjoyed their time at a ski lodge, tackled the high ropes at Turangi and tamed the hydroslides in Taupo. Thank you to everyone who came along and gave a hand!
WARNING: This year’s year 6 students should not look here to see the sunshine on last year’s trip!
Fantastic Final
Congratulations to the players and coaches of the Red netball team. The reds had a fantastic season making it to the grand final of their competition. The team gave 100% against Roto-0-Rangi in the final and even some impressively grazed knees didn’t slow them down. In the end the reds finished runners up, a great effort!
Life Education magic!
Nicky, Harold and the Life Education truck have been at school teaching us all about staying healthly, caring for our bodies and staying strong in difficult situations. Part of the presentation has involved a journey into space to check out how things are on different planets and how they could be for us if we don’t make wise choices.
Daffodil Day!
One of the charities that we support as a school is the Cancer Society. Each year we get behind daffodil day, we dress in yellow, create a coin trail and discuss the great work done by the Cancer Society. If you would like to make a donation you can click on http://www.cancernz.org.nz/ and there is a link. Thank you to everyone who supported the cause this year!
