Cross Country Championships 2011

Blake storms home to win the 8 year old boys' race.

Our annual rural schools’ cross country championships was a resounding success with some fantastic racing around the Mighty River Karapiro Domain course. We are the hosts of this major sporting event and received some wonderful feedback from competitors and spectators alike. We would like to congratulate everyone who finished the demanding course and give special recognition to Blake Seavill who was the overall 8 year old boys champion and to Georgina Jervis and Quinn Blundell who were runners up in their respective events.Well done also to Connor, Sam R, Rebecca, Rose, Cam, Sam H, Jared and Sarah who achieved top ten finishes in some very big fields.

Earlier in the day our junior students raced against the Horahora School juniors and did an amazing job. Sam S, Aoife, Emily and Wade won their races and Nicole, Reianne, Montique, Ryan, Jacob, Daniel and Lucas achieved top three places.

Thank you also to the amazing group of parents who ran the BBQ and lunch stall all day. We are all looking forward to next year’s event.

Once again we hosted the annual Cambridge Rural Schools Cross Country Championships at the beautiful Lake Karapiro Domain. Approximately 400 students from ten schools competed in the various age races with some very close finishes. This year the course was altered because of construction for the 201o Rowing World Championships to be help on the lake. We would like to congratulate Jake Mechell, this year’s ten year old boys champion. We would like to thank all of the marshalls who helped to run the day as well as the fantastic parents who kept the food stall producing all of that yummy food!
