Book Character Day

Pirate Ryan, Buzz Lightyear (Tom), Pirate Sam and Ben 10 (Levi) enjoy book character day.

We enjoyed another fabulous book character day this week with an amazing range of characters coming to school. Every student got up to share their character’s story with the King of Hearts and the staff took part in the fun as well. It was terrific to welcome a large group of parents to school to share in the day.

This year we combined book character day with our annual Daffodil Day fundraiser for the cancer society. We raised over $100 from our coin trail. Thank you to everyone who support the events.

Daffodil Day!

Our staff adds to the coin trail.

One of the charities that we support as a school is the Cancer Society. Each year we get behind daffodil day, we dress in yellow, create a coin trail and discuss the great work done by the Cancer Society. If you would like to make a donation you can click on http://www.cancernz.org.nz/ and there is a link. Thank you to everyone who supported the cause this year!

Ride for Life

One of the great things about being on State Highway One is that interesting people come by every day! Last year we all got to meet Chris Cairns on his epic walk from Auckland to Canterbury to raise awareness about level crossing safety. This week Darren (Greeny) Greenwood rode past on his ‘Ride for Life” to raise money for the Cancer Society. Greeny is riding from Cambridge to Wanaka and back and we made a banner to cheer him on as he set off on his epic journey. Check out Greeny’s progress at www.rideforlife.co.nz
