About

Karapiro is a school that is based firmly upon family values. The school celebrates the close links that it has with school families and the wider community. The school fosters and strengthens these partnerships in many ways from the annual whole school camp through to comprehensive reporting of individual student and school wide achievement.

The close relationship between the school and its community is paying dividends. In June this year the Education Review Office reported that “children’s learning is strongly supported by parents and families who are active and contributing partners in their child’s education.” The school has an unashamed focus on the basics and ensures that literacy and numeracy skills are well grounded alongside higher order thinking and ICT skills. Data collected this term shows that 94% of students at the school are reading at or above their chronological age. Parents also appreciate the safe and welcoming rural tone that exists within this ‘bully-free’ school.

Senior student leaders help set this positive attitude by promoting and acknowledging school wide values. Families also enjoy the fact that the school is ‘just the right size,’ big enough to offer a wide variety of learning, cultural and sporting opportunities yet small enough that no one is lost in ‘the system’ and every child has the opportunity to shine. New enrolments are always welcome at any level of the school please phone 07 827 7642 for an information pack.
